Louise grew up in the Peak District with an everlasting passion for drawing, painting and outdoor life. Her skilful observational drawing is enhanced by a keen eye for the structure and colour of plants. She currently lives and works as a professional botanical artist in Sheffield.

Formal art training (BA Hons Graphic Design & Illustration – Leeds Polytechnic) preceded work as a children’s book illustrator. She has since worked as a primary school teacher and lectured on the Botanical Art Certificate course at Sheffield Hallam University.

Louise has been awarded a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal (2014) for her “Ophrys of Menorca” collection. She was also awarded RHS Best Exhibit and RHS Gold Medal (2012) for her series of drawings ‘Native Ferns of the Peak District’. She has work in the RHS Lindley Library, London and in numerous private collections.
